Series 7 Exam Requirements In order to take the Series 7 Top-Off exam, you must be sponsored by a FINRA member firm, and FINRA has other Series 7 eligibility requirements. Your sponsor firm must file a Form U4 (Uniform Application for Securities Industry Registration) and pay the appropriate fee in order for you to be registered for the licensing exam. Although you can take the Series 7 Top-Off exam as many times as you want, you must wait 30 days after each attempt before trying to pass the test again.
